It’s been a strange weeks fishing with some anglers doing very well and some just failing completely, one of the biggest problems anglers all still using lures when they now should be fishing much smaller patterns and fishing what is in the lake. Most of the anglers that have caught this week have taken fish on Buzzer, nymphs and dries.

Very few fish have been taken on lures.

On Thursday we had a group of kids in from Morriston School they have been taking casting lesson and learning to fish for well over a year now and the standard of casting is excellent. The five juniors and two teachers Andy Banbury & Mark Hooper have done a great job with these kids and their reward is to going fishing and they all had a great time. All of them caught

Top Junior was 12 year old Jack Betson taking to fish on buzzer weighing in at 18lb 8oz with a best fish of 11lb.

Alex Richards 16 years old two fish 12lb 8oz

Craig Vyner 12 year old two 10.8oz

Jack Morgan 12 year old two fish 10lb

Ashley Greg 12 years old two fish 10lb first time fishing

Katie Davis. 12 year old Two fish 10lb

Teacher Andy Banbury two fish 11lb 4oz

Teacher Mark Hooper two fish 11lb

 Other catches this week

John Newman four fish 26lb 11oz all fish taken on buzzer

Robert Hall four fish 24lb 7oz all fish taken on a dawl Bach

Ken Jones four fish 23lb 7oz

Rob Davis six fish 47lb with fish of 10lb 4oz 8lb 3oz all fish taken on small lure and buzzer

Tony Hall four fish for 28lb with a best fish a blue of 8lb & 9lb

Robert James four fish 22lb 6oz. all fish taken on blood-worm.

So remember lads you need to change your tactics forget about lures and think more natural patens there are hundreds to choose from. Look at the lake and see what is hatching.

Fishing has been good at the lake this week with some very good fish being taken, the very strong winds that we had last weekend have calmed down and all the falling trees have been removed.

We have had a nice couple of browns out again this week with an 11lb 2zoz falling to Victor Hopkins. Victor tempted the brown off the finger fishing with an olive gold head.

Philip Lewis also landed an excellent brown from the finger weighing in at 11lb 4oz. Philip tempted his brown on olive buzzer.

Although the two browns were taking in the same area of the lake and only 2ozs difference in weight one was long and slim and the other was short and fat, but both very nice fish.

Bill Bradley Landed five nice fish for 31lb 7oz with a best fish a blue at 8lb

 Kevin Morris four fish 23lb

 Kevin Thomas four fish 24lb

Glethyn Mapstone fished Montana to take five nice fish for 33lb 6oz.

John Newman fished small buzzer to take six fish for 35lb with a best fish of 9lb

Tony Flint fished a P T N to take four fish for 28lb with a best fish of 10lb 2oz.

Colin Fold landed four fish for 24lb 6oz all fish taken on Viva.

Nigel Jones fished tadpole to take four fish for 25lb 11oz.

Ken Jones also fished tadpole to take three fish for 17lb 7oz.

Jason Smith fished damsel nymph to take four nice fish for 25lb 2oz.

Fly patens have been varied this week with just as many fish being taken on nymphs & buzzers as lures. Still a little cold for the dry fly although a couple of anglers have taken fish on Daddy & hopper’s
